Every little girl loves to have a tea party under water with her swim friends. Using the metaphor of a mermaid tea party, this book touches on a very important spiritual truth: that we should never offer "emptiness" to another, but always something that will enrich that person's life. In this case, the offering through a cup of tea is "loving kindness." Manners are important. Manners are automatically revealed when the underlying seed of loving kindness is planted. Drink up!
"This is one of my 6 year old daughter's absolute favorite books. When we first downloaded it to her kindle, I had to read it to her. But her reading has since improved enough that she can read it on her own. She loves tea parties. She loves mermaids. Putting them together into one story is her idea of the perfect story. She reads it to herself ALL the time. What is even better is she reads it to her little sister, and then they both go off and pretend to be mermaids having a tea party of their own! In addition to the fact that this book entertains my children and keeps them occupied, I like this story because it teaches about good manners at a more formal tea party. While most days, we use the everyday dishes, I do try and use the "fancy" china with the children on a semi-regular basis and teach them about proper etiquette and table manners. This story does a great job at reinforcing that message." -- Michelle
"Love this lesson on kindness, manners, appreciation and gratitude. Little girls love mermaids and tea parties. Huss combines the two to explain to young children the virtues of waiting your turn, expressing gratitude, offering kindness, and practicing good manners. Miss Crandell uses the tea party to demonstrate how to give and receive gifts graciously. The mermaids understand that they are learning life lessons not just playing house. This is the kind of book that will grow with children as they learn the meaning of responsibility. Nice book for parents to share with children or teachers to use as a read aloud for discussion." -- Barbara Mojica
"What's not to love about little mermaids a tea parties. This book is so adorable and my daughter absolutely adores it. I have read several other books by this author and what an amazing imagination she has. She really knows how to write for children. My daughter loves all her stories. But with this one, I think she has found a new favorite. Great book. Every little girl should have it in her collection." -- Suspense
"What a DELIGHT this book is for ALL of us! Children and Grown Ups alike! Not only does it explain the lovely cultural rituals of how to pour and give TEA to another, but also how, in doing just that.....you can fill up another's heart and soul and make them feel as special as they truly are! The whimsical illustrations are so colorful and clever and adorable, and the whole book just makes you feel HAPPY ALL OVER!" -- Carol Ann Ashley Birtwell
"This book is beautifully illustrated and leads you on a wonderful journey from beginning to end. Any little girl with a wonderful imagination would find herself lost in the pages." -- Pete Winiarski
"With colorful illustrations, Sally Huss melds little girl fantasies of being a mermaid and having a tea party into a sweet story of kindness and appreciation. Learning manners while passing on kindness and being appreciative of others who do the same to you are much needed lessons and best taught to our young ladies through examples in this book. Ms. Huss has done an exemplary job." -- Andre Meintjes
